Doric Lodge OV in Ajax
After a rather hectic day, filled with surprises, I ended up in the East - coming in before the DDGM, per protocol at an Official Visit, for the first time - at Doric Lodge on Thursday. The Beaches Lodge won the Travelling Gavel, and that was a long time coming. The day had started with a meeting in the morning downtown with a group of researchers who require a business plan for their AI app in the Healthcare industry, and leaving there, 90 minutes later, I went to visit an old colleague to discuss some of his opportunities peeping up over the horizon, and from there I walked up the road on a now-blustery fall day to see my doctor.
A few days prior, during Thanksgiving, I was felled by a great pain, an abdominal cramping in the stomach, which rotated to a pain in my lower back, and returning to my front - for several days - and on Holiday Monday, I told family members I would see a doctor to ascertain the cause. So, on Tuesday I duly called the doctor's office only to find out he had passed away in April, but that his wife was taking over his practice and thus an appointment was booked. I had not een eating well or sleeping well and thought this was still prudent.
Finally arriving and checking in at the office, after taking down a few notes, the doctor asked me to remove my pants, including my underpants and get up onto the examining table. I did, covering myself with the piece of appropriate paper the doctor had kindly left me before exiting the room. She began by physically examining my stomach, wondering if it my be a gall bladder issue, and then proceeded (delicately) to examine my testicles, a first for me, while professionally explaining men really need to check regularly (for a pea), similarly to women who need to self-check for breast cancer, and then I was checked for possible prostate inflammation.
The tests, including an ultrasound, will continue the following week.
A few hours later I was at home getting on my tails, and an hour or so later at Doric. The degree and the visit went very well (the padded benches are comfortable), and afterwards - after being piped in and introduced while at the head table - following the roast beef dinner (actually my first in the Grand West) I went to the washroom, only to find out my fly had been down the entire evening... another first. What a day.
